     view description
    • Fast tempos are considered to be the base of the Pro Style Pistol Offense.  Utilizing these tempos sets up the basis for the other tempos.  Each has a purpose in both our thought process and our attack.

The communication for all of these tempos is the same.  The players use four of the five communicators and one communicator (the picture board holder) is dead.  For us Tempo is really about how we are able to communicate the play and when we want to snap the ball.

We are in “Run It” because we feel we have them locked in based on what we see in the box or these are plays  we are very confident in seeing a certain look based on game plan.  Much of our game planning starts with finding formations that we use which we are fairly certain we will get a certain look because we saw enough of it on film.  In general these are plays which we are able to get up to the ball and run within 10-15 seconds of the ball being spotted if we are not changing personnel.  A change in personnel will obviously slow the play down.  Our thought process moving forward with changing personnel, especially in terms of how officials now handle a change is explained and illustrated in Chapter 12 Exploring Tempo.
