Offensive Coordinator & Quarterbacks Coach – South Carolina

Kendal Briles is the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at South Carolina, bringing extensive experience leading high-producing offenses at the Power Five level. He has served as a primary play caller across the SEC, Big 12, ACC, AAC, and C-USA, with his offenses consistently ranking among the nation’s leaders in total offense, rushing, and scoring.

Prior to South Carolina, Briles served as associate head coach, offensive coordinator, and quarterbacks coach at TCU. Before his time in Fort Worth, he spent three seasons as offensive coordinator at Arkansas, where the Razorbacks ranked seventh nationally in rushing offense (236.7 yards per game) and 15th in total offense (471.4 yards per game) during the 2022 season. Arkansas rushed for 3,075 yards, its highest total since 2003, and was one of only three FBS programs to average more than 230 rushing yards and 230 passing yards per game.

A 2015 Broyles Award Finalist, Briles has also served as offensive coordinator at Florida State, Houston, Florida Atlantic, and Baylor. At each stop, his offenses showed immediate improvement and ranked among the nation’s most productive units, while developing multiple All-Conference quarterbacks and skill position players.

If you’ve studied this offense you might have heard similar coaching points from others but it was great to get Coach KB’s insight on: His background His thoughts on tempo, tempo creating wide open shots, tempo>perfection Feeding the studs Insight on their RPO TE flat game And for me the answer to why he’s using less big wr splits than his Baylor/FAU days and Heupel does As you might expect, it’s more strategic than tactical but a great talk and happy I got to hear it!
