Big O - Situational Identity. The number one thing an Offense needs is an Identity. We think that your offense should also have an Identity in certain Situations. Situational Football is often overlooked. Coming out and Going in are plays that create points and require added attention. Have a plan to win that Situation first by defining it, then attaching a goal to it, and finally creating plays to win that drill. This Lesson will help you create Situational Identity.
This Lesson is TWO IN ONE!
PART 1: "P.C.P." Regardless of your Play Call - Coach your QB through a PROCESS of anticipating where to go with the ball. After a playcall is sent in, every QB has 15-25 seconds to look at a defense with a taught understanding of where to go with the ball. We spend 20 minutes on Video, talking about Protection & Coverage Concepts that will allow your QB to anticipate where in his Progression he should go with the ball. Eliminate the number of sacks you take, and raise your completion percentage!
PART 2: How to TEACH and READ 4 VERTICALS. In our 25+ year career, we have seen this concept taught a number of ways. After years of failure and success, we have found the best way to teach this concept to your WR's and QB. From Protection, to specific Routes and through the QB Read, have confidence to call this play more, expecting a higher completion percentage!
This is a Lesson that includes over an hour of video with in-depth discussions on OL play within Zone and Gap Schemes, RB play in an RPO System running Zone and Gap Schemes, and WR PLAY with routes that inlude Peremiter Screens, 3 Step Concepts and our top Drop Back Route Concepts. We dedicate this time to fundamentals and techniques within individual position groups. We do discuss some of the "Why" behind our System, but any Coach wanting to learn more about individual postion play within traditional offensive schemes, this video will benefit you and your staff.
We discuss our 27 Period Practice Plan, designed to execute 45 Min of Team O, 45 Min of Team D, 15 min of Special Teams, 10 Min Pass Skell, and a 20 Min Indy Period. We take an in depth look at the 20 min of Individual time desigend with offensive "E.D.D.'s". These are EVERY DAY DRILLS we use to develop the core fundamentals of blocking, throwing, cathing, and T.C.B. or "Taking Care of the Ball" / Ball Security! However, this time is also designed to execute our System. Create UP TEMPO drills that allow you to steal a base with scheme. Teach your commuication, tempo, and play tags at the same time your getting reps at run reads, routes, and QB decisions. These will help you have confindence to IN GAME adjust your play calls knowing that your kids can execute them.
Everything you do from Sat AM util the follwoing Friday night can be boiled down into on piece of paper called the game plan. Are you using your time making sure you are "Practicing what you are going to call", and more importantly "Calling in game what you Practiced"? Seems simple, but we have all been guilty of this. Successful offense is Execution. Period. Although you must put your kids in a position to win, you can not win games with the Ink Pen. Kids must Execute your calls. This video will instruct you on how to Idnetify your Situtaions and use Practice Math to make sure your getting the proper amount of reps on the right things prior to Game Day. This Lesson includes 4, 11-15 min Video's taking you through this process. We have also included an excel copy of our Monday Practice Plan and Script Sheets.
In this lesson, we discuss the process of opponent game breakdowns. Printed reports are important tools prior to calling a game. How you input can make these reports really useful or simply too hard to look at. What you input from the offense your seeing and what you input from the Opponents Defense you will face on Friday night is a crucial part of game week. How you look at a DC to find his personality, or tell, is discussed at length and part of our data input process. We will also talk about the charts and info I used in the box to help me call a game, and adjust calls in specific moments in the game. This is a topic that needs to be discussed more. Bad input in, bad input out. How you look at things, organize things, call things... These will all determine how good the reports you run will help you make the right calls on Friday Night.
This Lesson can help any System call the game and build a better game plan. The key is in understanding the defensivie mentality of "Recognition and Reaction" and then attacking it. Understanding your Identity, create advantageous formations and then build in answer plays off of that core run. Understanding your own practice math (not included - feel free to call) you can ultimatly build the perfect game plan. Practice what you call, and call what you practice! This lesson includes 30 minutes of white board video and a blank copy of the game plan we used during our time as an OC, using the Big "O" System.

We believe that to play fast, you need to "PLAY FAST FIRST". We DO NOT want to play fast all the time, but we do want the opposing DC to think we are. TEMPO, and how to play fast, is tied to CADENCE. They are one in the same and will allow you to attach any speed to any play giving you the flexability to go fast when you want, hard count, freeze or even hudl when you want. The best part is that there are NO MEMORY PLAYS. We do not believe that developing a Series of Plays, and having your kids MEMORIZE them is the best way to incorporate speed. NO MEMORIZATION = NO MISSED ASSIGNMENTS. This Lesson provides 4 White Board Videos discussing the Cadence and Tempo necessary to play in 3 TEMPOS. We also include game tape from our time at UNC Charlotte that will allow you to see these 3 speeds coached up.
Our System will attack the defense 3 ways in the Drop Back Game. We have Flat Player "Reads" that attack the perimeter of the defense. We have Safety "Reads" that push the ball down field, over the top. Both can be found in our Drop Back Manual @ thebigosystem.com. This video will focus on how to attack the middle of the field with our Line Backer "Reads". In this 40 minute, white board lesson, we will discuss in depth, how we can formate, call, and teach these 4 Concepts: Drive, Shallow, Mesh (Pyramid), and Cross. All can be run out of 3 personnel groups and every formation you can think of without changing a WR route or the QB read.

Don't just randomly call plays... Call the game. Understanding HOW to attack a front is the first step for any successful Play Caller. This course is designed to help you easily Identify Defense. We will talk about "The Box", and the appropriate blocking angles for certain plays. However, we will focus on "The Triangle", which will define the "Run Fit" player. The key to any successfull play call is to first call a play AWAY from the "Run Fit" player, and then design a play with the best blockig angles for your offensive line to execute.
"VERTICAL SWITCH" is a concept that we have run with a tremendous amount of success over 2 decades in 4 different D1 Conferences and 1 FCS Conference. End of Season Cut Ups showed us that this route concept was by far the most efficient of our "Chunk" Throws. This is a top down read that is good into EVERY COVERAGE. This 40 minutie + video covers this entire concept. Run it out of 10, 11 or 12 P with 2x2 or 3x1 Formations. You can run this with 5, 6 or 7 man protections. We discuss the teaching on each individual route and the QB read into every coverage. We also incude 6 Cut Up Reps of this route run during our time at UNC Charlotte back in 2014-2016. Run correctly this Throw Call will become your most efficient way to push the ball down field!
"Flat Player Reads". At TheBigOSystem.Com, we have published a book called our "Drop Back Manual". In that book we discuss 12 Routed Concepts that we have broken down into 3 easy reads for our QB's. In other CoachTube Video's we discuss our 4 LB Reads and a couple of our Safety Reads. This video Lesson will focus on how we teach our QB's to attack the perimiter of a defense (Flat Player Reads) throught the 4 Drop Back Concepts of Smash, Sail, Turn and Curl.
